Buying Facebook fans is a waste of money

Buying Facebook fans is a waste of money

If the idea of spending less money by buying Facebook fans as opposed to spending larger amounts on proper advertising sounds like a good idea stop to think about a couple of things and you will soon understand why it is such a waste of money. There really is no value to doing this and it completely defeats the entire object of a having a social media presence and engaging your audience.

For starters, bear this in mind. Most companies who openly sell Facebook fans acquire these sold fans to you through orders placed to countries such as India, Pakistan, Asia etc.

A large proportion of the money you have spent goes to fake profiles not even real ones and the minority of profiles that are legit are not going to be the fan base that   understand and want your daily messages.

There are no shortcuts or quick fixes, building up a social media presence takes time, patience, strategy and targeting. If a good strategy is implemented which is executed accurately you will not only achieve your online objectives but start to build an online reputation and become cause and effect of “word of mouth” marketing. It’s as simple as that!

Going what seems the cheaper and easier route will have you eventually stressing for nothing. Here is why:

  1. They are not qualitative
  2. They will not understand your message.
  3. They might not even be fluent in English.
  4. You will have zero or little page engagement.
  5. They may even wreak havoc with negative comments.

Having a large fan base really means nothing. Yes, you need to reach the public by having a fan base, an audience which will see your post updates  but remember, you need the right kind of audience not just any Tom, Dick or Harry from whichever corner of the globe. What is the point then of being on social media besides boasting a huge fan base which will get you zero ROI.

For companies that have just started a Facebook page and want to get their numbers up – just run a small and targeted Facebook Ad. Don’t be tempted into buying fans because it seems so much cheaper. In the long run the couple of extra bucks you spend wisely will prove to be effective. If you want to get your numbers up and you are only sitting on a couple of fans do it the real way, the proper way, the smart way.

As a matter of interest, do you know what you can get in return for the money you spend on buying Facebook fans? I did a bit of web browsing around South Africa and was quite gobsmacked at what I found and the charm it must seem to people who think they are getting a great deal.

These are the estimated averages of beans for beans out there:

If you want SA Facebook fans this is what you could expect to pay and receive for ZERO ROI.

“Buy Global fans” delivers similar to your expectations but in a significant cost reduction.

Sounds great and yes this is very real but I can tell you if you spent any of the above amounts on real and human campaigning you would soon begin to see some good results if your content and engagement strategy is right. A R19,000 or R32.000 budget for targeted advertising will be well worth your while. There is no need at all to go at what appears to be the easy route.

Just think about it, where do you think these fans come from? How did the selling companies get these people with Facebook profiles into a database that they can continuously sell over and over again? How can they possibly be of value to your brand?

Remember you get what you pay for!!!!!
